In what year did Snap-On tools change their basic box color from Gray to Red

The first red box was listed in the 38 cat. Some boxes had a choice of Red or Grey. I think grey when out in the late 40s.

It seems in Milwaukee, they bought boxes and used decals, Then they switched to brass tags, then moved and they were stamped or embossed in the metal - in many cases with Snap on Chicago. After this, what happened?? Any ideas?
