Snap on made several ratchets for other companies, Caterpillar was one (may still be). One of the very hard Caterpillar rats to find is the 8H8557 with the rings on the handle. Its just like the Military rats snap on made in the 60s. This is 1/2 dr. date code 1970. Not stamed with the SO name nor the Caterpillar name. only has 8H8557 USA.

The Schwinn ratchet grabbed my attention. Many years of collecting Snap-on and old Schwinn and I was not aware of this. Is it date coded? Were there many produced?

No date code on the Schwinn rat. Its probably from the 70s. They do show up on ebay, hard to find but not rare, Snap on also made wrenches for Schwinn. Here is one.

Are the Schwinn tools marked only with Schwinn, or are there Snap-On markings or numbers that identify them as Snap-On? Were there sets? Are these tools listed in any catalogs? You have a wonderful collection. Thank you for sharing.

Marked just Schwinn. but they would have a model number that starts with N . they were not in a SO cat, maybe a Schwinn cat. You can tell them when you see them, look like SO wrenches. (other than this one).
