Where to find tools

Hi Frank,

I just discovered your Snap On collecting site. You have done a really nice job! I have enjoyed looking through all of your pictures and historical comments.

I have just recently started collecting Snap On tools (I have used them for years). So far, I am collecting mostly ratchets. Other than eBay - can you suggest some other places to look? I have had very little luck on eBay finding stuff I am interested in, and zero luck finding tools elsewhere.

Thanks again for the cool site.

Try the following

- auto swap meets - I know a number of guys that have booths in car shows. Big ones always have a few - Pomona in LA and Hershey in PA are two good examples

- Pawn Shops. I know a guy who watches for me. I visit pawn shops and tell them - I am looking for old Snap on - and give them my number and email

- Run an ad I like newspapers with older reader. You are looking for that 80 year old mechanic who realizes he will never use the tools again

- Estate Sales

- I like the Model T club, but any antique car clubs (really seems the 1960s car clubs don't work as well as the 1930s clubs

- Tool sites - check the links on the web site

These are a few ideas. If you are actively looking, it seems you don't find anything for a period and then several tools or contacts come up, then nothing again. Just stick to it and the tools will appear
