Hi and thank you for allowing me to join this group.

I recently inherited a large amount of snap-on tools from my late father.
The tools on question are Par-x tools which I've never heard of before.
I have done a little research and found that they were snap-ons budget line of tool in years past.
Are they collectable or worth anything?
I also have an old krw48a barn top cantilever tool box which is in a bad way.
Can these be taken apart and restored? I'd like to do it as a project with my son
But have no idea were to start. (complete novice)

Hi there I think you maybe from the UK? Just off how you write your description. I have some par-x tools my self that iv just collected because they are unusual I find them to be better quality than blue point and almost better than new snap on off the van but I know that the quality of snap on in the UK is crapper than the snap on made in the USA as I buy new and old from the USA and its always 100% if you can post some pics by the way im from the uk to.

I have a VINTAGE PAR-X UN100 3/8 DRIVE BREAKER BAR
VINTAGE PAR-X UH200 3/8 5/8 6 POINT SOCKET
VINTAGE PAR-X UH120 3/8 5/16 6 POINT SOCKET
Vintage Par X UJ 80 3/8" flexable extension

The drive breaker bar is near mint and the 2 sockets are in pretty good nick for their age. The flexible socket has definitely seen better days and has ceased or rusted solid. I may try and soak it in some Gunk but don't know what else could free it.

I will try and get dome pics on later or tomorrow.
Any ideas about restoring the toolbox?

I have one of them breaker bars and a speed brace with the same styled handle, I also have some sockets and come to think of it my dad has a small tool kit somewhere I think that is par-x or indestro which was also snap-on I believe. Maybe put it in diesel that usually frees anything! With the tool box that's looking pretty hard because of all the compartments, I do actually have one there a nice looking box but my god full of tools there heavy! Not exactly portable. But id start with T-cutting the best bit of paint on it if its still red and possible if you want to keep it the same red take it to a paint company get half or 1/4 of a litre. Then get paint stripper on it and clean up with sand paper the rusty bits as good as you can then spray it with primer wet flat it down with wet and dries and then spray with your red, theres loads of things you can do it just depends how good the finish you want it. Where in the uk are you?

there was no connection between indestro and snap-on.

Oh rite I got given a few bits and was told they was, obviously not then any idea of history?

Well since you ask both if possible helps for future, as I do actually do a snap-on display at classic car shows and I get asked all kind of questions so yes both please.

I have a soft spot for Par-X and have a small collection. In most cases they were made from forgings Snap-on retired from the Snap-on line but did not have the same level of polish. The ratchets share the internals with the Snap-on offerings of the same time frame and the Snap-on repair kits are correct.

In general they have value to collectors but not a great deal of market value.

Try a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF or power steering fluid to free up that universal.
