Hi all, just joined and this looks like a very interesting forum. What brought me here is I own a set of 7/8 drive sockets along with a 5/8 adapter set. The sets include a ratchet, breaker bars, extensions, couplings, reducers. Largest socket is 2" while the smallest is 7/8. All are Snap on except one female 1" to 1/2" reducer. Most pieces are neatly stamped with the initials EBA. All are in very good condition. From information on the forum I assume they were called the Heavy Duty and Giant sets back in the day and there was limited production because they were replaced by other sizes.
My question is, Does a collector market exist for these items? What might be the value of a collection like this.

Re: Set of Giant and Heavy Duty sockets
they look like mid 20s. Some of the pieces are hard to find, a couple of very hard to find. Nothing on the rare side except maybe the 7/8 plug. Not a lot of collectors who collect the big items, and the ones that do have most all of this. Hard to put a value.

Re: Set of Giant and Heavy Duty sockets
Thanks snapmom. Which pieces are the hard to find items? Can you tell me what the socket on the bottom row right is used for?

Re: Set of Giant and Heavy Duty sockets
It is a wingnut socket. hard to find. should be 1/2 drive. the four point sockets are hard to find, if it is a 5/8 dr. The socket to the right of the 4 point, does not look like a snap on, does it have a name or factory markings on it? These tools look like they are in very good condition.

Re: Set of Giant and Heavy Duty sockets
Good eye snapmom. The item in question is not a Snap On. It is a 7/8 to 1/2" female adapter. Stamped "128 Walden-Worcester 7/8". The square socket is a 1/2" drive. Not so rare?
Indeed the set is in excellent condition.

Not so rare. The other 4 pt on the right, that probably goes on the 7/8 extension piece that has no top. Would read just "snap on" with no numbers.

Re: Set of Giant and Heavy Duty sockets
Correct about the other 4 point. I suspected it was the driver or a coupling for multiple 7/8 extensions. The holes are slightly offset.
I think this is my last question, how can I tell if my ratchet is a XHD7 or an HD7? They appear to be the same in the catalog (1929G version). Ratchet has no marking. The square opening in the ratchet is 5/8. This leads me to believe it is the HD7. Is that correct?
