Frank,
This is an outstanding find! How/where did you find it?
These sets were offered as kits to go with a specific car, and would correspond with the same line of distribution as the "Hardware store" retail cabinets that many collections have. The "What Car Do You Drive" book that Snap on published also listed the tools that each set would have, or should be purchased to accompany the car.

Great - I am in danger of learning something here.
You would not happen to know the type of car by any chance??
I have that early book "What Car Do You Drive" - but I did not see this one. I scanned it to post on the web site, but have not gotten around to doing that. I wonder if I missed it, or were the kits all 707, and the content changed per car?? Was this book pre 1924 (Catalog zero) or did it run at the same time? No date (that I see) on it.
Where did I find it? Estate find, the grandson had it - it looks like it was not used a lot. Looks really good. It came with a picture of the garage and general store with the owner in the picture. Grand dad owned both. May be stock he did not sell (aged but very lightly used)
It is pretty good - the paper is in pretty good condition,
Snapmom - you have a better box, but no contents??
Thanks to both of you - Great help. I was really wondering about this one

I got it with no contents, It would be hard to find the tools in the same condition, so I just left it as is. Its shows the maker of the box, you can google the makers name.

Frank,
I think in my file of literature at the office I have some really good documentation on these sets. I think it may be a color copy of an 8x10" or so sized bi-fold brochure. It lists the different set numbers for different car makes. I'll check tomorrow and see what I can find.
You were so lucky to find this in an estate sale! Amazing find.

Hi Frank,
Well I do have some documentation on these sets. One is an early fold our brochure, from the 23-24 era, and the other is a large bi-fold 8.5x11 brochure, that is in Spanish from the same era (yes, Spanish!). They list all of the sets for the different cars they support, and the large Spanish one even lists the tools included in each set. These brochures seem to be aimed at rural areas where car owners would be doing most of their own automobile service themselves.
I will scan and post them this evening when I get home.
