Hi everyone, what a great forum this is! I first started buying Snap-on tools back in 1966 ( yeah I know, showing my age a bit here), who could imagine that now they are being collected as "vintage tools"?

Here is my question for you guys: I would like to date a Snap-on valve grinder stone dresser that I have. Its all that remains from an old Snap-on Valve grinder that I once had.....except the box. Nowadays I use the box for all of my mike's and other related items. The box has a black Snap-on emblem in the lift up lid that covers the drawers. The box itself is red. The tool itself has Snap-on on it in the form of a triangle shaped decal, its not Bluepoint. It is a deep burgundy in color. I really seem to remember that the seat grinder itself had the Bluepoint brand on it, but I might be wrong about that. I bought it all used around 1969, and sold everything but the box and the dressing tool around 1974 (went to a Kwik Way system, but that's another story). Its been a while, for sure, with a whole lot of brain cells traumatized along the way since then:)

So....based upon all of this, what is the aprox. date of the tool itself? Assuming that the box was the correct box, and I am quite certain that it was. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks Guys!

Without a part number, it is a little harder, but there are a couple of ways

I have been working on an index. You can put "grinding" into the catalog section and it will take you to all the (pre 1950) catalog listings for Grinding Wheels. Then it would be a visual match.

Another other way is to post a picture.

The last way (I can think of) is to start looking through the catalogs. If it is 1950 or newer - the search would need to be Catalog by catalog.

Once you figure out a part number and a year - I think one could re-produce the set. Obviously the modern sets are a) Available and b) better, so the older sets are not that much money.
