Thanks,I appreciate your expertise, talking to bro # 3 he said our oldest brother may actually have the receipt for this box, that would be amazing but my Dad kept all his receipts,even from the 40s.

Don't want to be a pest but could anyone tell me why my (Thought to be KR-61) box does not have a serial number or any identifying markings other than the SO badge ? Thanks :)

It most likely does have a date/model stamp, but it may be covered with thick paint. Plus it may be virtually anywhere on the box. I have found stamps on the back or side of the box and the bottom of the lower drawer.
Sometimes when the stamp is covered by paint it may not be visible until the paint is removed or viewed from exactly the right angle. Keep looking.

Date codes came in about the mid 50s

So this means it may not have one ? Its never been painted and I checked carefully but my eyes are not what they used to be even though I used a magnifying glass. I will check again THANKS..

Thats what I was thinking just because of the years my Dad set up his shop and knowing his buying habits,Im sure he bought it new ..
