Snap-On + Stanley?

Does anyone think it is possible that Snap-On Tools purchased the hasps for their K-23 (MechaniChest) 1935-1939 from “Stanley”?

I purchased a Snap-on Box some months ago but only picked it up today. By the photos on Collecting Snap-on and the exact measurements I have determined that the box is K-23.

While searching for a model and date stamp, which I never found, I looked on the back of the hasp and found this …Made in USA Stanley.

The hasp is secured with two spot welds which appear to be factory/professionally applied. So I don’t think someone added the hasp later.

What do you think?

I think there were dozens of OEM sources used over a long period. Also Snap on was not making their own tool boxes until 1958 or 1959. So maybe so

On the other hand that tool box is more than 50 years old – It is a quality box. It is very possible one of the owners fixed a broken hasp

I’ve since found out that Stanley made the hasps for Snap-On on several boxes. Also Snap-On was making their own boxes in the Algona Iowa plant in 1956.
