Thanks

that box was a special edition that was available for sale in 1970 for the golden anniversary of Snap-on. it is a model KR533 and there was also a gold roll cab KR558 available that matched the top chest. the model numbers also had a letter designation at the end but i don't remember them and as far as production numbers there were a few thousand of them so they are around.

Maybe its just an odd picture but that color makes it look like its made out of plywood!

Between the condition of the lighting, camera quality, and the actual color of the box it does look like plywood. I was going to clean it all up and repaint it red to match my bottom box, but decided to research it a lil bit. Is it something that somebody would want? or is it safe to paint?

it is very collectable in its original gold color - painting it would not be a good idea and would actually make it worth much less.
i for one would be interested in it if the price is right

Well, i could find another box no problem. I have no idea what this thing is valued at. Im not a collector, and just needed another box for specialty tools, so i would be willing to sell. It would make more sense to leave it original colors. Iam by no means trying to get market value or above, but would kick myself if I sold a 1000$ box for fifty bucks.
