KRA 275 in Stainless Steel?

Post by texsw »

Hey Forum

I just found a KRA-275 box in what looks like stainless. Did they make these? I can't find any info on line. It says on the bottom Kenosha Wisc USA 70. I think that makes it a 1970 model. This was in my dads stuff, and I think he had the set 136-TM-B because I either remember all of the tools or have located them recently. Can't find the ratcheting adaptor, but I know he had one. At any rate, there is absolutley no trace of paint on the box, and its in excellent shape because I don't think it was ever carried. Its been on a high shelf in his shop for at least 30+ years. Any info would be appreciated. thanks

Here are some pics. There is a little rust, because it was stacked on some old rusty tools. I can't find a trace of paint. I tried to show an area that it would be hard to remove paint from. Its not a full stainless steel, its a little magnetic. But its still bare metal. And are the cork liners original? Thanks

Probably an anniversary special. Looks like lower grade of stainless, which will rust like that. High grade stainless is hard to form and pricey. Wet the box with wd-40 and buff with "0000" steel wool, should clean up the rust. Some cleaners or polishes may discolor the finish!

Here is a 50th aniversary midget set. Painted gold. There could certainly be a stainless version.

I found this box set with an incomplete set of tools insise of it, in the trunk of a car I bought last week. My box is painted red. It had rust all around it as well as inside. I sanded the rust as best as I could and oiled the box. My box has 78 on the back, assuming it's from 1978?
I tried to add a picture but it's not working...?
