Bottle opener (ca 2006) - authentic?

Post by cmb »

I've got a SO bottle opener and I'm trying to determine if it's an authentic factory item. (See attached photo.) Can anyone help?
The date code appears to be 2006, and it's also marked with this information:

6368536: US patent number for this style of injected-molded handle
SGD2R1R: According to SO customer service, this is a generic number for the soft-grip handle itself.
DES414095: Unknown -- is this the number of the parent set?

Does anyone know if this bottle opener ever had its own part number? Is there a catalog or flyer that advertised it, possibly as a bonus item with a screwdriver set? I'd really like to get some documentation on it.

This one is mine and it is real, it came with a screwdriver set. The back even has magnets in it to stick it to the side of your box. Yours has the logo in the opener side so I would say it is real. Mine does not have a part number either because it is not something you can just buy by itself, it comes with something esle and it is not waranted.
