Is this a misstamped snap-on wrench?

How common is this for snap-on?
Does this increase or decrease the value for a collector?

I am surprised to see it. The early tools have some variation because they were hand made and hand stamped. The newer tools (although less interesting) are generally better - better quality, lighter, stronger, better designs. Tools made after WWII are pretty uniform.

Just a guess, but a discounted wrench out of the factory store? Maybe sold to an employee?

I think if it was a postage stamp or a coin it would be worth more, but tools? I don't think so. Collecting vintage tools is not as defined as other collections. It is still a bunch of guys who share an interest. Maybe someday it will be an "industry", but not today - My guess is there are 6 to 10 hard core collectors, another few hundred (maybe even a couple thousand) doing it to a lesser degree and a bunch that are interested and have some tools. Compare that to stamp collecting where every kid had a collection and there are thousands of serious collectors

I do not know if collecting will ever be at a high level, but it is a pretty good bet prices are generally going up, more people are becoming interested and rare tools will become rarer. Keep it and see if the answer is different in a better economy??
