I very recently obtained a KB2100 tool box Snap-on 2000 (roll-around tool chest) about 50 inches wide that is a little darker than sky blue ....with a top chest on it that matches the roll-around perfectly. Made in Canada.

How old is it likely to be?

Production dates (approximate)?

How can I find touch up paint for it? I have yet to see the "apparently" correct colour on the internet.

It is in pretty good shape....any valuation ideas? I do not plan to sell it. I purchased it to store tools in my airplane hangar...and I found it languishing in an old airplane hanger. Paid a fair bit for it.

Help would be appreciated.

Lookin' at late 80's early 90's. Looks like a repaint. Don't recall any other option except for red until the late 90's.

There "should" be model # and a date stamped into the back somewhere. Not positive about Canadian boxes ...

I now know that this is definitely a repaint...and not done particularly well. I have discovered some hidden specks of red paint.
So far I have not found a paint code number but will continue to look for one as I dismantle the box.

I plan to strip the box...very carefully...and then repaint it again in the correct color once I know what that is.
I wil treat the box with phosphoric acid wash (Met-L-Prep) before painting it.

It has been neglected but it seems to be an undamaged box in need of tender love and care...the lubricants on the drawer runners have dried out so that will be carefully attended to...also the wheels. The box is almost totally dent free!

My homebuilt biplane aircraft is red so the colors might be fairly close when it is finished.
