I'm yet to find a picture of this emblem with the white and the blue. Is this original to the boxes or did someone repaint them?

They're a little beat up, but in overall good condition. All the drawers move nicely, but i'm missing the top key. Am I missing a peice with this combination? It seems like the owner had something in between them for a while.

that blue emblem was used on tool boxes that were sold in 1976 for the Bicentennial of the US and they also had a decal on the right side that went top to bottom with red white and blue stripes.
your box is much older than that from looking at the drawer handles so my guess would be that someone replaced the emblem around 1976.sorry for the fuzzy picture i cropped it from a larger one - if you want a clear picture let me know and i will take one.

Did all the 76 boxes have that? I've got a very nice original 76 dated top box with no stripes and just a standard black background logo.

That's a really nice looking box you have there snapy. As much as i would have prefered the emblems to be original, knowing they were from a 76' bicentennial is pretty cool as well. thanks for the help with that one!

i do not know if all boxes in 1976 came with the special trim, i really doubt that they did Snap-on usually had special promotions on certain ones and that was for a limited time. that being said you or the dealer could purchase the trim kit and apply it yourself to any box that you wanted see the attached picture.

Thanks for the info. I bought the 76 box at an estate sale for a reasonable price and it had some tools in it even. I had no idea about the bicentenial boxes until now though(a 76 box is 3 years older then me). I've now turned it into my basement tool box as I bought a top middle and bottom box for the garage and the 76 one is in such good shape I couldn't get rid of it.

I'd be interested in seeing more pictures of bicentennial boxes and what promotional boxes were offered with the package. Definately cool. Is there a list of all the special boxes that snappy has offered through the years, like anniversary, nascar, fishing... different themes ect...

Here's my 76 box. Looks the same as the bicentenial box except for the unique coloring etc.
