5/8" drive sockets

Post by JoshuaG »

So I bought a set of 4 really OLD Snap-On sockets today, they looked like 3/4" drive sockets, and seemed like impact sockets.

Found out that 1/2" drive is too small, and 3/4" is too big. So I went searching, and apparently Snap-On made 5/8" drive sockets. This makes these things worthless to me, except as seal and bearing driver adapters.

They all seem to be date coded for 1927. Sizes are 1 1/4, 1 3/8, 1 7/16, and 1 1/2".

So here's my question:

Is there any way I can get a Snap-On adapter for these things, so I can use them with my 1/2" drive ratchets and impact wrench? The old catalogs that Mr. Murch has generously provided on this website of his states the old part # is HD-1. Unfortunately, Snap-On doesn't sell 5/8" drive stuff anymore!

Here's some photos:

I think the adaptor you want just came up Ebay #180737706493

Also, these are very early Snap On sockets and they are not impact or air tool sockets. They are from the mid and late 1920s. The are heavier and weaker than modern sockets

Thanks
