War Finish OEX Wrench With weird Numbers on it? and 2 othe?

Post by dimwittedmoose51 »

Hi Everyone: Have a couple of questrions, but the important one first please. I acquired a weird combination wrench with a very Snap On-like part number but no logo or anything of the sort. t appears to be about a 5/8" tool, about 7" long, has maybe a10 or 15 degree angle to the box end side, and has the following numbers on it. The shank has"5/16W-AT-8008" On the same side on the flat part of the open end there is a "WOEX110" The other side has nothing on the shank, but a".601" on the flat part of the open end side. Any Idea what this is??? A practice piece from the factory? Prototype? It may not be a war finish like the Plombs, but rather just rough wire brushing for subsequent coatings. Photos below.

2nd question: I have a strange old Snap On(logo just like the logo on this website) crudely assembled socket extension with no numbers on it, just the old logo. Any ideas on how old it is. It's pretty chewed up as far as collector status goes, but it's still a Snap On.

3rd/final question: Pictured are two Snap On screwdrivers with the same part number "SSD-6", but the handles are of different sizes and the shanks appear to be slightly differernt lengths. Any guess as to when they made the switch to the bigger handle?? I think part of the tip is missing from the older blade.

Thanks fellas

No 1. They are whitworth (British) tools from the war.
No. 2 The extension is old, from the mid to late 20s

But the wrench is a Snap On I'm guessing?? Looks like the pix of the screwdrivers didn't make the first post. I'll try again. Thanks for the info.

The wrench is prob. a blue point, but could be a Snap on. They were the exact same it that era.

The screwdriver, Snap on had a big problem with the compound on this type of screwdriver handle, they contracted and cracked. You can get a new one for it.

It does have a crack in it, so maybe this time the truck guy will replace both the handle and the shank. Thanks
