Hello Snap-On Collectors.
Do any of our readers know why the new Snap-On brand Dual 80 Ratchets do not include USA stamped on the handles any more, like previous generation ratchets? The Snap-On web site indicates that the Country of Origin is USA, yet it is no longer marked on the handle next to the model description like other Snap-On brand hand tools such as breaker bars etc. I wonder if it has anything to do with some foreign produced content such as gears or pawls etc.
Also, ratcheting box wrenches, which were formerly Snap-On brand, are now Blue Point brand, even though the Country of Origin remains USA according to the the web site. Just curious to see if anyone out there might have answers to these questions?

Re: Dual 80 Ratchet
I would think it has to do with their marketing outside of the US. maybe in China. I doubt if SO would tell us their marketing strategy, so we may never find out.

I can't say why although I can speculate that they see the US as a mature market and other places areas for growth. As snapmom mentions places like China.
The website lists USA as COO. I understand the guts are made here too.
