K60+K200+Vintage tools
All my vintage stuff not much but im working on it
was into any snap-on at one point but in the last couple of years iv gone onto vintage snap-on tools. My k60 is missing the two bits of trim either side of the badge and unusually i dont have a barrel lock but a leaver on it for a padlock nothing looks disturbed so either its from new for the military or the person who made the mechanism was very good.

Hi Matthew,
Your K60 is very interesting -- I've never seen a box with the vertical chrome spears on the side panels. Can you tell whether they were originally fitted by the factory? How are they attached to the panels? I've seen a number of boxes here in the US with the horizontal spears (left and right of the Snap-On logo), but never the vertical ones. If you could provide any more information about this, I'd really appreciate it!
Also, does your K60 (or K200) have any stampings or markings of any kind? They're probably too early for that, but I just thought I'd ask.

Re: K60+K200+Vintage tools
Hi colin thanks for your interest, were do i start! Both of the boxes are stamped made in usa no date, i wondered the same about the chrome strips it was found in a damp barn where two vintage rolls royces was beeing stored then he decided to have a clear out discovered this great find and i met him at a local car show some how got talking about tools and he said he would be listing this on ebay, a year later it got listed ended it having to have it and i oiled it well scraped all the rust off and there was abit of paint left i decided to take them chrome strips off and found clean wrinkle finish paint so my thoughts are they must of been on since the war they bolt on i will take some pictures for you tomorrow of the bolts and that chrome strip off, they was fitted well old looking nuts so it all points to 40s ish, the nuts are very similar to the handle nuts and bolts on a 3/4 drive box 1940s one which is snap-on so i am unsure if it was fitted then or not, sorry for such a long reply is there any other questions? what vintage snap-on do you have? thanks again matt again sorry for the long reply someone should fit a word maximum on this site to benifit all of you from my descriptions
bye for now.

Thanks for the information! I have a 1985 set of underline-era tools with their original plastic trays. I believe it was sold as an apprentice set in a KRA59C top chest.Snap-on Boy 92 wrote:By the way only took the chrome well stainless steel bits off for a clean not to bin just incase you was wondering i am well into classic and vintage cars i have not yet found any on any type of car! my dads friend has over 60 classic and vintage cars going back to the 1920s i have not found any like these on them either i will try and take good photos for you whats your email?
I also own a K60 (built without chrome trim). The front cover is painted with the name of a man who I believe is the original owner. Behind one of the drawers, I found a Snap-On dealer receipt signed by him and dated 1946.
My father has a K60 as well, also without any chrome trim. His box came with a card certifying the original owner as a trained Harley-Davidson motorcycle mechanic. It's signed by Arthur Davidson, 1947. It's not Snap-On related, but it's an interesting addition
