Have I been conned (Fake Snap on tool box)

Post by mrleo »

So I brought this tool box under the impression it was a Snap On
However I am now doubtful it is having not seen another genuine Snap on one that looks the same, and also seeing similar cheaper brand versions that look similar. Also the serial number on the back doesn't seem to be anything to do with Snap On?

Can you tell me by looking if it is or not.

Has a serial on the back that just says: 62704
The number on the lock is just: 156

Dimensions about:
40.5 inch width

16 inch depth

19.2 inch high

Snap On vinyl logo under lid, Stuck on logo on front left.
Your time most appreciated!

Snap on should be stamped on the back of the box.

that's not one I've ever seen. The sticker logo is from a newer era than the pin post logo, which, if there aren't 3 posts drilled through, it doesn't belong there.
looks more like an MBC, but hard to tell.

ok thanks all have found identical boxes as new:
Westward 4fB59
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Westward-4FB...-/231114011431

and the top box here:
Waterloo Traxx
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterloo-Tra...t/121319543247

thing is I brought it assuming it was Snap On and would not have paid the amount i did if i knew it wasn't. Also some one has been using a BBQ on the top of it so the top is all black and burned, also the bottoms of the draws are all flaky, orangy and rusty. I know i can sand it down and spray it but for the price i paid ($345) for a beaten up old trunk is not that much less then the cost of a new one (Westward toolbox $399) and i had to drive 100 miles to get it. also got no keys with it. but mainly is the fact that i brought it thinking it was snap on and its a much cheaper version and in a bad state.

I doubt very much if that is a true Snap-On tool box.

All of us have been fooled about something we purchased.
