Chevy torque adaptor. Made for torquing the rod and main bearings of Chevys having the Power Glide automatic transmission. Attach a socket and a torq meter to the drive ends and you can get around the obstructions to reach all the bolts. Probably from the 60s.

Thanks so much for the info on the extension. It's been bugging me for a while now what is was used for. This is a great site.
