Re: RE CHROMING
I've had some parts rechromed for my 46 dodge truck. I got 3 bezels done for the gauge pods at $20 each. Wrenches where you aren't looking for that show perfect chrome might be a little cheaper. Also usually as with most things the more you have done at a time the better price you get per item.

Do you know how they go about stripping the old chrome? can they do it so they don't have to grind or remove the imprinted lettering?

Yes its removed with a chemical bath. I believe as long as they don't overdip you won't lose the details. There shouldn't be any grinding involved unless there are imperfections you want fixed.HLAV1 wrote:Do you know how they go about stripping the old chrome? can they do it so they don't have to grind or remove the imprinted lettering?

Re: RE CHROMING
I had a wrench re-chromed and it came out looking way better than a brand new one. I think Snap-on does not do triple process (copper, nickel & chrome) hexavalent chrome on their tools, but one of my students has been to Kenosha trying to sell them armatures (the fixtures that hold the tools in the cleaning and plating baths) for their operation. He would know. If you guys are really interested in all that detail, I can ask.
