Picked up this weekend

Post by warezdog »

Not sure about these, I thought they were KRA59s but people over at Garage Journal say more likely 61's
Parts for 61's are NLA so I've ordered parts for the 59, the entire locking rod assembly and locks. the last one I have no idea!
I guess I'll be pulling drawers on all of them and look for a part # tonight.

So parts wise Snap says NLA what are my options, fab my own?

Thanks in advance for any ideas, direction, advice, or input!

BTW picked up the small snap and large snap with Mac sticker both full of tools for $150 and second empty one for $120. I may have paid too much but LOVE these old boxes!

Did you check the back of the boxes for year stamps?

I looked pretty good for any kind of markings but found none, is there a specific area I should look harder at? Since I'm going to soda blast them I could take some sandpaper to where the number might be located at.

The top box is a KRA-58B prob. from the early 60s. Should have a stamp on the back, (but may not)
Bottoms box is a KR-53 prob from about 1950. The stamps on the back started in about 55

The big boxes I believe to be 61's as they are 30 3/32" wide and the 58/59's only had one handle in the middle and are only 26" wide. I didn't have time to pull drawers and look for numbers tonight as I had to finalize the paper work on my new place.

I think you could be right about the small one but I'm going to pull the drawers on that one as well and see if I can find any identification on it.

Your right, it has to be a KRA-61D from the 70s

I don't think the small one is a KR 53 either, the catalog show that the front cover folds up from the bottom and is not built into the lid.....the plot thickens!

The 50 cat shows the KR-53 with the hinge built into the top of the lid.
