Help! Snap On Lock Installation Problem

Post by bluefab7 »

Help!!! I am refurbishing my first Snap On box, a KR1000A. The previous owner did not take very good care of this box, and he lost the keys, resulting in drilling out the original locks and removing the cams. I found used replacement locks on Ebay, but I am unable to figure out how to install the notched cams so they activate the lock rod. They look just like the original locks but I can't get them to work. I've tried every possibly configuration that I can think of and am unable to figure it out. I can't proceed with installing new detents and reassembling the box until I figure this out. PLEASE HELP!!!

COULD SOMEONE TAKE AN INTERIOR PICTURE OF THEIR LOCK SHOWING THE POSITION OF THE NOTCHED CAM IN RELATION TO THE LOCK ROD. I THINK THAT WOULD CLEAR THINGS UP. Thanks.

It almost sounds like when you removed the old one you let the rod drop and it came out of the back section so it's not lifting the lock bar in the back?
