QJR3250 Torque Wrench Repair

Post by Seymore Throttle »

Hi All,

I'm trying to get my grandfather's old torque wrench working again, but it seems that the parts are no longer available. I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this wrench and either knows where I could get compatible parts, or has a schematic I could look at. There are some kits on eBay, but compatibility seems to start with the QJR3250A unfortunately.

The main issue is that it's missing the pawl spring. My grandfather used a paperclip to keep it working for years, but as you can imagine, it isn't vary reliable. The pawl us slightly worn too, but I think the wrench could at least be usable if I could make or buy a suitable spring.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. When someone passes on a tool like that, it's almost as if they're still there helping you out every time you use it.

I have some parts for a qjr3200 so they should fit yours. Ball, spring, paw.

Any chance you could post a picture of them? My 3250 doesn't appear to have a ball, so I'm curious about that part.

Let me know how much you would be asking for the parts. Thanks for the reply!

It is not going to fit that one. Have you called snap on, that may be your best bet

Unfortunately calling Snap-on appears to be the least effective solution. The calls always end almost immediately with someone telling me that the parts are no longer available.

If anyone happens to simply have a picture of the pawl spring mechanism I could at least try to fabricate a new one somehow.

Hi,

Do you have a photo of how the internals of your ratchet head are set up? I was taking mine apart and it fell out the bottom once I removed the center bolt and I have no clue how it's supposed to look and the direction selector isn't working now.

The spring you're talking about could probably be fashioned by a paper clip - I can post a photo of it.
