Found this cleaning out my garage preparing to move.Probably picked it up in my previous life as a sanitation engineer and kept it because I thought it unique. It has a spring loaded tip, box is original but label is not legible.
No date or model number, just the label that says Snap-on.I have looked through this forum and on eBay, found nothing similar.
Any ideas?

My guess would be 6V (because of its probable age) circuit/continuity tester. Does anything light up in the little holes on the barrel if you complete a circuit between the clip and the depressed tip? Of course, may not work given the poor condition of the cord.
This might be the same company. Shoot them an e-mail with a PIC of your tool attached. Maybe they'll be able to tell you about it.

It is for etching words, letters, numbers etc, into metal. The clip hooks to a 12 volt battery.then when you touch the tip to metal it will mark it.It is from mid 1970,s i think. In other words it allows you to write on metal.

Hi
If you use the search function on this site, you can get a full description. I think it is worth about $25-40 - but the real test is what somebody is willing to pay for it
Thanks

I think it is a MT330 or MT-330 etching pencil from the late 1960s through the early 1980s
The other posibility is a GA-39, from the 1950s, but i think the shape is wrong for the older pencil
